Speed limits are in miles per hour not kilometers per hour which is nice for us. The speed through towns is 30mph in the center of town and 40 mph near the edges. Once your outside the town the speed is 60mph.  So you can be on a narrow road, just two cars wide with no shoulders and the speed is 60. They are slowly lowering that speed to 50 mph, and have been starting on the busy 4 lane divided highways. When we were out last weekend on all the 4 lane divided highways the speed was 50 with photo cameras, but if you turned off onto a narrow country lane the speed was 60! Motorways (freeways) are 70. We have noticed that they are slowly lowering the speed on the country lanes to 50, but for a while it has been very funny.

Credit cards are widely used in the states and I know we use them to get frequent flier miles. In the Us the merchants pay 4% to the credit card companies for using their service. Here if you use a credit card 4% is added to your bill. As a result we almost never use a credit card but use our debit card instead. It does mean you need to keep a watch on that balance.
