Woolsthorpe Manor- Birth place of Sir
Isaac Newton
This is the
manor house where Sir Isaac Newton was born in 1642. When the plague came to
Cambridge and it was closed from 1665-1667, he returned home.

While home he conducted his experiments in
splitting light into a spectrum of colors and his theory about gravity. The apple tree under which he worked is still
in the garden. It blew down during a
storm, but rooted and grew again.

It
did have an attic for servants, a cellar for food storage, as well as many out
buildings. The farm consisted of more than
300 acres in Newton lifetime growing all that they needed to survive.
Longwool sheep raised in Newton's time. It has a higher quality of wool. |
