Wharram Percy Desserted Medieval Village

John on path leading to village. Green hill in background village site.

This medieval village is located in a beautiful valley just northeast of York in the rolling hills called the Yorkshire Wolds.
Indentations around the foundations can bee seen on the green hill.

The village flourished between the 12 and 14th centuries and was finally abandoned in the 15th century when the lord of the land wanted the village removed so he could use the area for grazing.
